Findbar Basics 1.5.2 by CatThief Extensions

The Findbar Basics extension adds four basic features to Firefox’s Find Toolbar:

  • a Statusbar button that toggles the Find Toolbar on and off.
  • a Clear button inside the Find Toolbar for clearing all text from the input box.
  • an optional toolbar button that toggles the Find Toolbar on and off. You can place this button anywhere you like by dragging it from the Customize Toolbar window.
  • Ctrl-F key command to toggle the Find Toolbar on and off.

Download the Findbar Basics extension for Firefox 3.0

  • To install:
    Right-click on the download link and select “Open with firefox.exe”
    -or-
    (1) Right-click on the download link and select “Save Link As…”
    (2) Select “File” from the main menu, then select “Open File…”
    (3) Locate findbarbasics-fx3.xpi on your hard drive and the installer will proceed from there.
  • To update: Use the “Find Updates” button inside the Add-ons Manager.
  • To uninstall: Highlight the extension inside the Add-ons Manager and click the “Uninstall” button.

ChromaTabs Plus

Makes tabs more readily identifiable by tinting each tab a different color depending on favicon of the website loaded.

This a Firefox 3 compatible version of the original ChromaTabs 2.0 extension.

Custom Toolbar Buttons

Ever wished you had a button on your toolbar to access add-ons with one click, or perhaps a button to undo your closed tabs? This wonderful add-on allows for buttons that do just that and so many more actions you may have wished for or never knew you wanted!

  • Each label with the Firefox icon beside it, can be installed into Firefox.
  • Hover over a label to get a short description on its buttons function.

Select the buttons you want and Install:

  • Checkmark the box beside each button you want to install.
  • Select the green Make It! button on the bottom right.
  • You will be directed to a new page where it says: Download the extension you have created. -Select the word Download then proceed to install.
  • Restart Firefox
  • Right click on your toolbar, and select “Customise”
  • In the window that opens, find the new buttons that you created, and one by one drag and drop them anywhere on your toolbar.

Making searching more enjoyable!

Thesee two add-ons allow you to assign areas/zones on your screen to your favourite search engines.

Simply highlight any text and drag it, the screen then lights up with boxes (indicating different zones) of your favourite search engines. Drop the text on the box/zone assigned of the engine you want to search.

- Customiseable – choose what search engines to use, and where they should appear as drop zones on your screen

- Easily add any search engine found on any web page, by a simple right click in the search box and selecting ‘add as private search engine’. Search engine is added to your toolbar search box.
- Catagorise search engines.
-Choose how searches should be opened (in new tabs/same tab/forground tab/background tab etc)

Text Link

Allows you to open text links – links that are not normally clickable – by double clicking on them.

eg: To open this link: “http://www.google.com” you would normally have to either:

  • select the link, copy and paste it into your URL Address Bar
  • retype it in the URL Address Bar
  • select the link and drag and drop it into the URL Address Bar

Then hit enter or select the “go” button.

With Text link you can simply Double Click it to open.

You can customise it’s options to specify how links should open (eg. in a new tab, new window etc)

Wired Marker

Permanently Highlight Text on Webpages! Any text you highlight useing Wired Marker will remain highlighted when returning to that webpage.

“Wired-Marker is a permanent (indelible) highlighter that you use on Web pages. The highlighter, which comes in various colors and styles, is a kind of electronic bookmark that serves as a guide when you revisit a Web page. The highlighted content is automatically recorded in a scrapbook and saved.”

To Use:

If the Wired Marker Icon isn’t already on your toolbar, follow these steps:

  • Right click on your toolbar and select customise
  • Find the Wired Marker icon and drag/drop on your toolbar
  • Click on the toolbar button, and it will open the Wired Marker Sidebar – By default there are some folders with highlighter colours already created. You can edit these or delete them and create your own.

What are the Folders?: When you highlight text within a webpage, that webpage is saved to one of the folders. The colour beside the folders are the colour text will be highlighted when saved to that folder.

To Edit a Folder -

  • Right click on a folder and select “Properties“.
  • Edit the Title field to rename the folder
  • Under Maker select “customise“. In the customise window, you may edit the colour and text style.

To Delete a Folder

  • Right click on a folder – Select “Remove” – Select “Folder”

To Delete ALL Folders

  • Right click on “Local Folder” – Select “Remove” – Select “All lower folders”

To Make a New Folder -

  • Right click on Local Folder – select “Empty Folder
  • Edit the Title field to name your folder
  • Under Maker select “Customise“. In the customise window, you may edit the colour and text style.

HIGHLIGHTING TEXT with WIRED MARKER:

Go to any webpage and select the text you want to Highlight, then either:

1)

  • Open the Wired Marker Sidebar
  • Drag and drop the selected text into any of the folders.

2)

  • Right Click the selected text – choose Wired Marker -> and choose any of the folders.

UN-HIGHLIGHTING

  • Select any Highlighted text -> Right Click -> Go into “Wired Marker” -> Select “Clear This Marker

Flashblock

  • Blocks FLASH animation from playing on websites.
  • If you want to see any flash that is blocked, just click on it.
  • You can add websites to a “whitelist” to allow Flash content to always play on them.
  • Optional toolbar button allows you to toggle between turning Flash ON and Off.

Flashblock is an extension for the Mozilla, Firefox, and Netscape browsers that takes a pessimistic approach to dealing with Macromedia Flash content on a webpage and blocks ALL Flash content from loading. It then leaves placeholders on the webpage that allow you to click to download and then view the Flash content.

Context Search

Search engines can be added or reordered in Firefox’s Search Toolbar (“Manage Search Engines”).
